Before You Apply

A few things to know before you start. They will save you time and money.

Apply before you pay for anything

This is the most important thing on this page. Do not pay for a background check or apply for a license yet. We review and accept applicants first. Once you are offered a position, we will tell you exactly what to do next. Applicants who pay up front sometimes do so before they are accepted, and we do not want that to be you.

What you will need

Have your basic contact information ready, along with details on your education and any license you currently hold. The application itself is short.

Quick eligibility check

  • Hold A Valid Ohio Teaching Or Substitute License, Or Are Willing To Obtain One
  • Are Enrolled In An Educator Preparation Program
  • Hold A Bachelor's Degree, Or Are Ready To Pursue District Recommendations If You Do Not
  • Can Pass BCI And FBI Background Checks
  • Have Reliable Transportation To The Districts You Want To Work In

What Happens After You Apply

You will not be left wondering. Here is the path from submitted application to your first assignment.

We Reach Out With An Offer

If you are a fit, we contact you with an offer and your next steps. This is the point where you complete your background check and licensure.

You Complete Background Check And License

Finish your BCI and FBI background checks (fees waived for newly hired substitutes) and apply for your Ohio license. We provide the instructions.

We Review Your Application

An HR specialist personally reviews every application that comes in, and checks references if needed.

Finish New Hire Steps

Complete your new-hire packet and required Public School Works training.

You Go Active

We activate your account in Frontline. Once all your requirements are in, our goal is to have you ready to accept jobs within about five business days.
